This is from my series of photographs during a trip to Vietnam the year before my daughter was born and was photographed on the street that ran from my hotel to the central market in Hoi An.
For the most part homes and businesses were well maintained on this street but this one door stood out broken and decayed but yet I saw something beautiful in it. Since I photographed it I have produced various interpretations of it.
Hoi An is an ancient town and in this image I hope to depict the beauty in the age of what I saw while there.

I instantly fell in love with photography. A few years later I was photographing advertising, corporate and editorial assignments in Dallas, TX. In 1995 American Airlines sent me to Germany to photograph a story on the popularity of the American Cowboy in Germany. This job was fun and crazy. I met people that really wanted to be cowboys, some to the extent of building western towns and on weekends pretending to be just that, cowboys. Later that year they sent me to France to photograph a story on wine. It was an exciting assignment going up...

Superb image! I was a very young photographer/visual artist when I started to be almost obsessed with windows and doors and such, and did some collages in the primitive way availalble then...
